How to create that Perfect Landing Page?

How to create that Perfect Landing Page?

I’ve written a lot about landing pages. I think landing pages are an essential link to the profitability of a business website. Why, because landing pages turn traffic into money.

For a starter or anyone to understand how to create an effective landing page, I think it’s best that we understand exactly what a landing page is.

Landing Page : Visitor traffic is sent specifically to a landing page that has been created to prompt an action or a result. The goal of a landing page – which includes strategic content and design – is to prompt the prospect to take your desired action. Traffic to your website can come from various channels, but regardless of the sources, you want them to arrive on a landing page and to take the necessary action.

Traffic Sources to your landing pages

As part of your marketing plan you may have a number of external sources that you’ve created with the intent to drive traffic to your site.
1. Traffic is sent from a PPC (pay per click) search marketing campaign from the major search engines i.e.: Google AdWords. Your landing pages are optimized to correspond with the keywords the searcher uses.

2. Emails can contain a link that is sent to a landing page designed to prompt the user to take action.

3. Traffic is sent from a blog article or a call-to-action that resides on a sidebar that takes the visitor to a landing page that requires them to take action.

4. Traffic can come from a banner ad that sends a visitor to your landing page that specifically addresses that target audience.

Designing your landing page

Capturing more conversions requires the blend of two talents: the copywriter and the designer. Copywriters who understand – what works and what doesn’t – partnering with a designer to share ideas and concepts towards a common goal, to convert more visitors. Write up is key, but the web is a visually strong medium and it’s important to create a design that supports the content, leading the visitor’s eye, directing them through your message in the order that you want them to go.

Point s to Keep to let these landing page ideas to work for you

Above the fold – Make sure that all of the ‘important stuff’ is within the upper 300 pixels of the page. Many call that ‘above the fold’. What that means is this: more than half your visitors will NOT scroll, so you must keep your value proposition right in front of your visitor.

Keep it simple – If you keep this in mind, write and design your landing page accordingly. You visitor doesn’t have the patience or the time to wade through dense content. You want to encourage visitors to read and engage with your content – so keep it short. Make your paragraphs as short as possible by getting to the point sooner than later.

Easy. Really easy – Just to expand on my previous point, make sure that you simplify the form as much as possible. Mandatory fields should be minimal and easy to complete. As well make sure that the input cursor hops instantly from field to field.

A well-written and designed landing page can turn traffic into money. Your content and design must lure the visitor’s interest enough to take the next step and engage with your company.
